Puppy Start Right Preschool Program

INTRODUCING PUPPY START RIGHT PRESCHOOL CLASS.
PREPARE your puppy for a LIFETIME at your side! Did you know that the best time to socialize your puppy is between 7 and 12 weeks of age? Early puppyhood is a critical time for socialization and learning. Experiences during this time set the stage for the rest of your puppy’s life. JOIN THE FUN!! Come meet other puppies and their families or experience different sights, smells & sounds in my training facility in private sessions! Program includes the book Puppy Start Right by Kenneth Martin DVM and other training materials. Basic Manners 1
Various Days • 1 Hr • 6 CLasses
With practice, this class will make life with your pup calmer, easier and more fun. These class modules are based around real life scenarios, and are specifically designed to address the most common challenges in life with our puppies and young dogs. We cover the basics for puppies and young dogs, including attention, calmness, sit, down, recall, stay, leave it, loose leash walking, heal, settle, name recognition, and target touch. We also focus strongly on the basics for the human part of the partnership - situational awareness, working at your dog’s level, problem solving, and capturing and rewarding their own good decision making, and other positive reinforcement tools. Six one-hour class sessions, starting with a people-only orientation class. Class sessions can’t be made up, and we require 24 hours notice prior to orientation session for full refund. We take a summer break and are now registering for Fall ‘23 classes.

Basic Manners 2
SaturDAYs • 1 Hr
These class sessions are designed to practice and develop more deeply the tools introduced in Basic Manners 1. We practice the all important recall in a few different locations, with increasing distraction level as your pup progresses. We also cover the basics for a more comfortable and enjoyable walk including the loose leash walk (“reading the paper”), heal, leave it, wait, recalls, and stays while out and about. This is a drop in style class using only positive reinforcement tools, and is appropriate for pups and their people who’ve taken my Basic Manners 1 class. Class size limited to 8 dogs and their people. Limited Summertime availability.

A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen Test Prep Class

This Six session course is designed to help prepare the handler and their pup to pass the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen certification. This certification is recognized throughout the U.S., and allows the certificate holders access into some business and retail settings that normally wouldn’t allow dogs. It is often a first required step for pups and their handlers that wish to become therapy dog teams. The A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen test is offered during the last class. This is a class appropriate for those pooches and their people who’re comfortable using positive reinforcement based training tools, and who have taken Basic Manners 1 & 2 classes.

Doggy Quaren-Tricks & Enrichments Zoom Sessions!
FRIDAYS • 30 minutes • 4 CLasses
Just for fun, because we’re all in this together, including our dogs! What’s more laid back than taking a live class from the comfort of your own home? Come in your pajamas if you want, I won’t judge! We’ll focus on teaching tricks that may include target-touch, sit, down, spin left, spin right, paws up, beam, tunnel, jump-over, speak, back-up, forward, roll-over, and more… We’ll also introduce enrichments designed to make downtime with your dog easier and more enjoyable. This four-session class is appropriate for those pooches and people who’re either already comfortable with, or at least curious about using positive reinforcement based training tools. A separate training session will be provided for those who haven’t been introduced to positive reinforcement training tools before.
